I've been (ahem) "asked" to clarify my use of the word "scourge" to describe my lovely wife. I meant that in the best sense of the word, in that Sharon has been doing a heck of a job, keeping on track with my directing, and focused on theatre as a whole.

Can I come home now?

I am by nature a cynical person. Which is what makes my life seem so strange when so many things go right, in a row.

Friday, had an incredible rehearsal with my lead actor. A breakthrough or two (for both of us), and a very solid foundation for developing the character of the Director. Then came home and Sharon, who's doing double duty as both Inanna and sound designer (as well as my general directorial scourge) had some absolutely amazing stuff for the transitions between scenes, or "static sequences" as I've been calling them. Strange, bizarre sounds which are all the weirder because they come, unaltered from animals.

Then, tonight, we just got back from doing the party rounds at CONvergence. First off, I placed for Signal get great placement, by itself on one of the early pages. Sharon took a bunch of postcards and was distributing them to a lot of people, many of whom had seen the ad and were looking forward to seeing the show.

But best (and therefore, to my warped mind, strangest of all), we ran into Greg Ketter, who runs DreamHaven, the shop which has published some of Neil's work. Greg seemed really excited about the show, and told me to bring some postcards to the dealer's table tomorrow to distribute. And (and!) they're doing a signing with Neil on the 20th... usually they assign you an order in the queue by handing out pages from a desk calendar, but for this, we're going to use Signal postcards, so that while everyone is hanging around, looking at their number, they'll have the show info!

I'm stunned. Really, simply stunned.

Have to get the Diversicon ad together. Have to make sure to print enough postcards. Have to get to sleep now, as I have a rehearsal tomorrow.

I love my life.
